Howard Hinds
Owner/ Program Director

A former two time Olympian (’96, ’00). Howard has been involved with swimming his entire life. Howard is an American Coaches Association (ASCA) level 3 coach. Over the years Howard has coached swimmers that qualified for Junior national and Senior National Championships. He has trained swimmers of all ages and experience levels, for over 20 years, and continues to bring boundless energy to both his teaching, and the continued development of his craft.

 

Erica Ryan
Site Director Islander Swim School

Erica, has been the site director and swim instructor at Islander Swim School for last 2 years! With over 18 years of experience in teaching swimming classes for a wide range of age groups, from infants to adults. Her extensive experience enables her to adapt her teaching methods to suit the needs of each individual, whether they're beginners or more advanced swimmers.

Chris Lugo
Senior Swim Instructor

Chris Lugo has been a swim instructor for the past 17 years. With such a substantial amount of experience, he has developed a deep understanding of swimming techniques, safety protocols, and effective teaching methods. This level of experience allows him to work with a diverse range of students. Chris has helped individuals of all ages and skill levels become confident swimmers.

Ricky started as a lifeguard and an assistant in group classes at Islander Swim School before learning the curriculum and becoming a swim instructor within a year. It speaks volumes about his dedication, quick learning abilities, and commitment to his role.

Ricky's patience and skill in working with children is a valuable asset for any swim instructor, as it's essential to create a comfortable and safe learning environment for young learners. Additionally, his ability to speak Spanish is a significant advantage in reaching a wider audience of potential students who may prefer instruction in their native language.
